A sewer overflow has entered Pilot Bay near the boat ramp.
Tauranga City Council put out a media statement today which read the source of the overflow was in Adams Ave, with a suspected blockage being cleared.
Signs were being installed along the beach to warn people not to swim in Pilot Bay.
Water quality samples would be taken tomorrow morning.
Tauranga City Council estimated an all-clear would be given on Thursday morning, if not prior.
