Serious crash involving car and motorcycle in Waihi

A person has been flown to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Waihi.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the intersection of Waihi Beach Rd and Trig Rd about 3.50pm.

The motorcycle rider was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition, St John Ambulance said.

A Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said the injured rider was a 30-year-old man.

"The man sustained multiple injuries, including injuries to his arm and shoulders."

"He was stablised by paramedics at the scene before being flown to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition."
