One of the great things about the Bay of Plenty Times and bayofplentytimes.co.nz is that we're able to bring you a wide variety of news and views.
Obviously, our bread and butter is local news and opinion. But we also capture the best of national and world news, as well as sport, business and features.
We will always publish the hard news but we have also made a commitment to bring you positive stories that reflect our community and champion the great people who are making a difference to people's lives.
Items such as the Community Gem, Riding for the Disabled profile, School of the Week and Club of the Week are popular and we receive great feedback on them.
We have also opened up the paper so readers who have a story to tell can write them up and submit them, along with any photos.
Now, we are looking to take this concept a step further.
We are seeking key people who can join us as "citizen journalists".
The ideal candidates will be active in their communities, know what's going on and be able to demonstrate they can write. One or two from each of the suburbs, and towns such as Te Puke and Katikati, would be perfect and we would be looking for them to make regular contributions to your newspaper and website bayofplentytimes.co.nz.
Does this sound like you or someone you know? If so, I'd love to hear from you. Simply email me at scott.inglis@bayofplentytimes.co.nz so we can discuss it.
