Western Bay firefighters are at the scene of a scrub fire in a reserve in Welcome Bay.
A NZ Fire and Emergency spokesman said the fire service received multiple 111 calls at 11.50am about the fire in a reserve area on Waitaha Rd.
Fire crews from the Greerton and Tauranga
stations were still on the scene, he said.
The scene of the fire was bordered by Waitaha Rd, Village Park Drive and Vanderbilt Pace but there was no danger to nearby properties, the spokesman said.
The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
