Tauranga rowers have been at the core of the New Zealand assault on silverware at the 2014 World Rowing Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Two of the team's six gold medals went to crews featuring Tauranga Rowing Club representatives, while Tauranga Boys' College old boy Mahe Drysdale also kept on his merry way by winning the single sculls by almost three seconds in a time of 06:53.51.
Curtis Rapley, who claimed gold in the lightweight men's four with Peter Taylor, James Lassche and James Hunter at the second World Rowing Cup held in Aigubelette, France, three weeks ago, repeated the feat in a time of 06:00.17, while clubmate Zoe Stevenson claimed gold in the women's double sculls with Fiona Bourke in a time of 06:59:87.
The men's pair of Hamish Bond and Eric Murray extended their remarkable run by winning their final by more than nine seconds, Emma Twigg took out the women's singles, and Julia Edward won the lightweight women's singles. Tauranga rower Adam Ling finished second in the C final with Alastair Bond.
Rapley, Stevenson and Ling are three of the less well known faces in the New Zealand team and are looking to build momentum throughout the season.
