The front half section of the roof of a single-story home in Brookfield was destroyed by fire this afternoon.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said the service received a report of the roof fire at a house in Lisa Place at 2.15pm today.
Two fire crews, from Greerton and Tauranga stations, attended the blaze and the fire has been extinguished.
Tauranga Fire Brigade senior station officer Peter Reinhard said about 60sq m in the front half section of the roof received fire and water damage.
Reinhard said firefighters were at the scene for about two hours as they had to shore up the rest of the roof to limit the water damage and take down some roofing to check for hotspots.
