English art rock band 10cc are coming to Tauranga.
The band, responsible for 70s and 80s hits Dreadlock Holiday and I'm Not in Love, will perform in Tauranga as part of a New Zealand tour in November.
The band, comprising Graham Gouldman, Rick Fenn, Mick Wilson, Mike Stevens and Paul Burgess, were popular when they performed in New Zealand to more than 50,000 people at a summer concert tour last year.
The band's song I'm Not In Love featured in films such as Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and more recently the Disney blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, and also reached fame with other songs such as The Things We Do For Love, Art For Art's Sake, Cry and Rubber Bullets.
This year's tour will feature a double-bill, with Gouldman opening the show with his Heart Full of Songs acoustic set; performing hits he wrote for other artists such as Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window (for The Hollies), No Milk Today (Herman's Hermits) and Heart Full of Soul and For Your Love (The Yardbirds).
In promotion material for the upcoming tour, Gouldman said: "The band, as it stands now is absolutely fantastic".
"Our main strength and what we're selling is the songs, nothing else."
"This is as near as you're ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10cc. Hit after hit after hit. It's relentless. We show no mercy. It's great, we love touring and playing together and we get on really well. The audiences are very gratifying. You get the people you would expect, who grew up with 10cc, but you also get young kids who know the songs too," Gouldman said.
