A suburban synthetic cannabis dealer has been declined a licence to sell the legal high from his Gate Pa home.
The owner of Budz Galore sells from his house on Bongard St and had been operating while an application for the licence to sell was under consideration by the Ministry of Health.
At a City Vision Committee meeting at Tauranga City Council today, where councillors were looking at setting up a plan to deal with legal high traders, news of the rejected application was discussed.
The Ministry of Health refused the application to sell under Section 21 of the Psychoactive Substances Act 2013. Section 21 refers to the Psychoactive Substances Regulatory Authority's actions if proposing to refuse to grant a licence and advises the applicant can submit a right to appeal.
The owner, who would not be named, told the Bay of Plenty Times last month that he had not experienced any issues and many of his customers preferred the residential location because it was "discreet".
