People across Tauranga are rushing to the city's florists in a bid to secure last minute gifts to keep their loved ones happy.
The Bay of Plenty Times spoke to several city florists who all reported being rushed off their feet in the lead up to Valentine's Day.
Florists said Valentine's Day, which is on February 14 each year, was becoming more popular each year but while the tradition of buying red roses was still common, more people were buying colourful bouquets.
Blooms on Cameron owner Margaret Beck said she had been extremely busy in the lead-up to Valentine's Day with people placing several orders for roses. "Last year we did sell out and I imagine if we get a few people in late on Friday they might have missed out."
Greystreet Flower Company manager Rachel Masters said she had several orders for a dozen roses.
