The kiwifruit vine disease Psa has hit Rotorua.
Kiwifruit Vine Health confirmed yesterday it received a Psa-V result on a kiwifruit orchard in the Rotorua area.
The Whakatane Priority Zone has been extended to include the Rotorua area.
The news comes only days after Psa-V was confirmed on an orchard near Pukekohe. It brings the total number of orchards infected to 889 - the majority in the Te Puke area - meaning 35 per cent of New Zealand's kiwifruit hectares are on an orchard with a Psa-V positive result.
