Eleven Tauranga secondary school principals and deputy principals spent the day as students on the annual Priority One Instep Principals' Day Out.
As in previous years, Western Bay of Plenty secondary principals got out from behind their desks to see and hear first-hand about the key sectors that are vital to the economic growth of the region and the future career opportunities on offer.
This year's theme was Energy as Enabler and saw the group taken to Powersmart Solar, Trustpower's head office and the Ruahihi Power station to learn more about how the region's natural resources impact on the local economy.
Trustpower general manager of business solutions and technology Simon Clarke said the group learned about what the company did and how it operated.
He also explained the company's three-year graduate recruitment programme which took in six to 10 graduates a year with a variety of degrees in areas such as engineering, management, marketing, IT and finance.
