Power was out to about 70 properties in Aongatete overnight after a car crashed into a power pole, bringing down power lines.
A police media communications spokeswoman said police were called to Morton Rd between Prestidge Rd and Banks Drive at 8.40pm yesterday.
A single vehicle crashed into a power box and brought down the power lines, the spokeswoman said.
The sole occupant of the vehicle did not appear to have any serious injuries and was checked over by St John Ambulance.
"They appeared to be a bit shaken and quite unwell," a police spokeswoman said.
