Powerco field crews have been out in force in the Tauranga region this morning restoring power to customers affected by outages caused by yesterday's storm.
Hundreds of customers lost power throughout the region with high winds, heavy rain and lightning strikes to blame.
Te Puke saw 587 customers lose power about 5.19pm, following a lightning strike with all customers having power restored by 7.51pm.
Gate Pa had 1408 customers lose power about 5.31pm with power restored by 7.10pm. Another 1111 Gate Pa customers lost power at 6.36pm, with power restored shortly after by 6.58pm.
Currently 28 customers are without power in Te Puke after a lightning strike which initially saw 252 customers lose power yesterday morning.
The majority of customers had power restored by about 9.41pm last night, with the remaining customers estimated to have it restored by 3pm today.
Welcome Bay currently has 11 customers without power, estimated to be restored by 11.30am today.
Crews are working to restore supply to customers as quickly and safely as possible.
