The price of a dip in a council-owned pool is set to rise between 20c and 90c from July.

This afternoon Tauranga City Council unanimously approved a new "simplified" Bay Venues pricing structure following a pricing review.

As part of the agreement, the council-controlled organisation will talk to regular users before implementing changes on July 1.

There will also be changes to the costs of renting space in Bay Venue's recreation facilities and community halls.

Peak and off-peak pricing has been removed and there will be a standard 20 per cent discount offered to community groups for indoor recreation facilities.

That means the cost of renting rooms in community spaces such as ASB Arena, Arataki Community Centre, Greerton Hall and Welcome Bay hall will rise from the current off-peak prices.

Bay Venues CEO Gary Dawson said the organisation embarked on the pricing review to rationalise the complex and multi-layered pricing structure that it had inherited from the early 2000s.

"Simplification and consistency of our entry fees across our facilities is well overdue," said Mr Dawson.
