Tauranga police are asking for help in their investigation into a serious crash which shut off a section of State Highway 2 yesterday.
A motorcyclist was critically injured after a collision with a car near Omokoroa Rd. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries but was this morning in a stable condition at Tauranga Hospital.
Police were now asking for any witnesses who haven't yet spoken with police to come forward. People are asked to contact police on 07 577 4300.
Traffic was backed up along State Highway 2 for hours and diversions were put in place as emergency services worked to treat the motorcyclist and clear the road.
Emergency services were also called to an accident involving a car and a truck on the corner of Barber St and Parry Palm Rd, Waihi about 1.50pm.
The critically injured person had to be cut from their vehicle by firefighters before they were flown to hospital by helicopter.
