Two 6-year-old girls who were missing with a Bay of Plenty mother have been safely returned. But police would still like to speak to the woman and last night were continuing to try to find her.
The woman disappeared with her daughter and her daughter's cousin on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner said family and friends had helped in getting the two girls back safely.
One was returned yesterday morning and the other was delivered to a detective in Katikati in the afternoon after police sent out a public appeal.
Mr Turner (pictured) said a friend or family member had made contact with the woman and took the girl to police in Katikati.
