Police are responding to reports of a series of big potholes on SH29A that have already damaged multiple cars.
A police spokesman said a caller reported the highway surface had "cracked" resulting in potholes of varying sizes.
Another caller reported the holes were not visible until cars were right on top of them and cars had been damaged.
The potholes were reported in the stretch between Baypark and the road-widening roadworks before the Maungatapu bridge.
The spokesman said police were informing roading contractors to fix the holes.
