Police have released information about the fatal crash near Te Poi yesterday, saying the car crossed the double yellow centre lines and collided with a bus.
Police were investigating what led the car to cross the centrelines.
The driver, a 54-year-old man, died at the scene.
In a statement Senior Sergeant Andrew BuBear said as far as police investigations could determine, a car travelling west on State Highway 29, near Waiomou Stream Bridge, crossed the centre line and collided with a charter coach going east.
