4.10pm: The final Tauranga Police CIB Luncheon is only $18,000 from its fundraising target.

The auction is anticipated to raise $300K, which will surpass a grand total of $2 million dollars raised by the event overall.

A reporter at the auction said the total raised today had just reached $282,000.


12.55pm: The final Tauranga Police CIB Luncheon is underway at ASB Arena today.

Hundreds have turned up to celebrate the last hoorah for the charity auction, marking the end to the fundraiser's pre-eminent 20-year history.

The auction is anticipated to raise $300K, which will surpass a grand total of $2 million dollars raised by the event overall.

Charities expected to reap the benefits from this year's event are the successful charities include: St John Building Project Trust, Acorn Foundation, Amped4Life, Cystic Fibrosis BOP, Kathleen Kilgour Centre, Te Tuinga Support Services, Decision Reach Out (Toro Mai) Trust, Merivale School.

Guest speaker Greg Ritchie, a former Australian cricketer who played in 30 tests and 44 ODIs between 1982 and 1987, will be supported by New Zealand entertainer and MC Jacqui Clarke.
