Armed police today arrested two people in connection with a Bay home invasion.
The arrests came after the armed offenders squad and detectives swooped on houses in the Western Bay this morning.
A Tauranga couple were held up by two masked intruders with guns last Wednesday night.
The man was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises to his hands and one of his legs, sustained during a fight with one of the attackers.
The middle-aged couple were in the lounge of their Cambridge Rd home when the offenders burst in through an unlocked door about 10.30pm, demanding money.
Today, police executed four search warrants in Bethlehem and Katikati which led to the arrests of a 15-year-old male and a 25-year-old man.
Detective Sergeant Todd Pearce said the pair would appear in Tauranga District Court later today.
Both had been jointly charged with aggravated robbery, attempted arson, wounding with intent to wound and other firearms-related offences.
Police were continuing their investigations and were appealing to a man who had discovered a firearm on the side of a walking track towards the end of Bethlehem Rd last Friday to come forward.
Mr Pearce said the man had taken the gun to a man in a vehicle nearby and got him to call police who then collected the gun.
"We want to hear from this man so he can show us exactly where he located the firearm," Mr Pearce said.
Any information should be passed on to Mr Pearce at the Tauranga Police Station on (07) 577-4300.
