The road at Pilot Bay which has been closed due to a large hole is expected to be re-opened tomorrow.
Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin said repairs had been main to The Mall, after water main burst on Monday night creating the damage.
Mr Currin said the council expected the road would be ready to open again sometime tomorrow afternoon.
The hole measured about 6x4m and about 2m deep when a reporter went to the scene on Tuesday morning. The area was fenced off as the council worked to repair it.
