It has been revealed the person hit by a car near Tauranga last night was a 34-year-old man.
A police media spokeswoman said they were notified of the incident, at the intersection of SH2 and Turner Rd, Apata, about 7.20pm.
A St John spokeswoman said two ambulances were sent to the scene and one person with serious injuries was taken to Tauranga Hospital.
Today, a Bay of Plenty District Health Board spokesman said the 34-year-old man was in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
