More than $100,000 collected by Countdown staff has gone to children's hospital supplies, thanks to the Kids Hospital Appeal.
The $128,959.90 cheque was presented to the Bay of Plenty District Health Board yesterday at Countdown Bureta Park, where about 30 staff and district health board members gathered.
The donation would go towards new equipment for the maternity, children's and NICU wards.
Bay of Plenty Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal organiser Tony Chegwidden said he was "really honoured and proud" by the amount raised by the region.
Pete Chandler, health board chief operations officer, told the crowd "every contribution makes a difference".
"I'm speechless, thank you so much from all of us. It's not just our board, our executive, our CEO, it's our families, our patients, our communities across the Bay."
