So much of the stuff that "needs" to be done can be simplified or cut down.
Christmas day is about being with the people you love.
Why slave away with a full roast dinner when you can just have a barbecue? There's far less preparation involved and how much does it really matter anyway?
As for presents, it's nice to be able to give something when you can but there's no need to blow the budget (and create more stress).
I love being able to give my family something I know they will like but it doesn't have to cost a fortune.
It might be a cliché, but it really is the thought that counts.
In Saturday's paper budget advisers suggested giving vouchers promising to do chores or activities like a picnic or day at the beach instead of buying gifts. As long as you have put some thought in, the people that matter will not be disappointed.
There really is no need for the annual Christmas stress.
Keep things simple and enjoy the festive season.
If you're not already, start counting down the days until the 25th (with excitement, not dread).
It only comes around once a year.
