Over the next few days, people throughout the Bay of Plenty will hit the highways to join the tens of thousands of people flocking to Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.
It's one of the best things about living where we do. We are close enough to Auckland to be able to pop up for those big events - be they concerts, sporting or cultural events - that don't often come to Rotorua or Tauranga.
Yet we are far enough away that the side of the City of Sails we will be battling over the coming days - most notably gridlocked traffic and crowds - are something we only have to grin and bear when we choose to.
Those heading to watch Grammy-winning artist Adele in concert tonight, Saturday and Sunday have been warned to expect major delays.
Long queues and two-hour travel times within Auckland are expected with people being told to arrive an hour before the start time. Extra buses and trains will be running and extra bus drivers from outside Auckland are being brought in - but there are still expected to be long queues for public transport.
