Firefighters have spent more than an hour dealing with a scrub fire in the Western Bay of Plenty.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications spokeswoman said fire crews were called to a shelterbelt fire on Belk Rd near Ōmanawa yesterday.
The fire was reported about 6.30pm.
About 100m by 10m of scrub had caught fire, the spokeswoman said.
This morning a Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications spokesman said the fire was extinguished and hot spots dampened.
