The arrival of the New Year will be celebrated with a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.
At 3pm on New Year's Eve the Mr and Miss Mount 2014 competition will be held with categories for Miss and Mr Mount, Little Miss Sunshine and Miss Teen.
Fuse Circus will also put on free shows at Mount Drury at 2pm and 8pm on December 30 and January 1 to 3. On New Year's Eve the performances will be at 6pm and 9.30pm.
On The Strand in central Tauranga, north-bound cars will only be allowed to drive through from 6am on New Year's Eve to 8am on January 1.
Residents and holidaymakers in the road closure area should have already been sent vehicle passes. There will also be a vehicle pass issuing station at the Kawaka St Park'n Ride from 11am on the December 31. Residents will need to provide proof of address to obtain a pass.
Those heading in to enjoy the festivities can park at the Park'n Ride on Kawaka St and catch a free bus from into the event zone. Bay Hopper buses will not be going into the closure area after 1pm on December 31. Buses that normally service the road closure area will drop passengers off near the free Park'n Ride.
The Park'n Ride buses will then take them into the road closure area. Normal Bay Hopper bus services will resume on January 1.
Or people can use the Bayline Coach service, which has pick-up locations around the city, for $15. From December 20 to January 11 Summer Ambassadors will staff the Tauranga City Council Beach Base at Mount Drury with information about activities during the holiday season and a free barbecue at midday every day.
Among the activities on offer are King and Queen of the Mount on December 26, the Mauao Beach Volleyball Grand Slam on December 27 and 28.
Beach-goers will also be able to take advantage of the surf schools, bungy trampoline, paddle boarding, fishing competitions, a pop-up library at the The Hits Beach Village and treasure hunts and beach digs.
