Bay Venues chief executive Gary Dawson said "Bay Venues are excited to have Bernie Gillon take this opportunity which sees a local speedway identity in charge of the next stages of speedway development at ASB Baypark. There was considerable local and external interest in the role and we look forward to Bernie's commencement and the impact his enthusiasm and knowledge will make on the sport in Tauranga."
Mr Gillion said "Speedway has a long and rich history as an iconic sport in this region, starting at the old Baypark over 40 years ago and continuing at the new ASB Baypark Stadium since 2002".
