Mount Maunganui police station will be moving to a new location before the end of the year.
The new station will be on the corner of Hull Rd and Tukorako Drive in Mount Maunganui and police staff hope to be in the new building by mid-late December.
Western Bay ofPlenty Area Commander Inspector Clifford Paxton said the new premises was sought because of ongoing water tightness issues with the existing building.
"We have been working closely with police national headquarters for the best option for our staff and the public, to maintain our operational capability and continued physical presence within the community.
"While there is no immediate need to vacate the building, the relocation is a solution which meets our service delivery requirements for the short-medium term future."
The number of staff working from the new premises, phone contact details and front counter hours would remain unchanged.
The police national property group was working with local staff to make sure the design of the new facility was fit for purpose for those who worked within, from and visiting the station.
