Fifteen new constabulary police staff are coming to the Bay of Plenty over the next 12 months.
For Tauranga its means three new Tactical Crime Unit constables and a further six investigators into a Tauranga-based taskforce focused on tackling organised crime.
Police announced the additional police officers today.
It was part of a $503 million Safer Communities package to provide more staff and associated policing services throughout the country.
Tauranga MP Simon Bridges said the additional police would make a difference in our community, in particular in cases of children protection, burglary, car crime and robberies.
