There will be no skinned knees from children toppling off Brookfield School's new fitness trail equipment.
Principal Carol Burborough said almost half of the $40,000 cost to build it went into the cushioned matting on the ground beneath the new equipment trail, which was officially opened this week with a blessing from school kaumatua and kuia.
Eleven-year-olds Desire Misa(front), Reuben McKeoggand Zara Coopershowed the rest of the school's students how to tackle the new equipment.
The trail was the idea of Burborough and school office manager Helen Pinkerton two years ago. They spent two years applying for funding grants and holding school fundraisers to raise the money.
