Mower riding is a fun-filled favourite!

Usually when I write this excerpt/stream of rambling consciousness from my brain, it's about something that I've just done or seen.

This time it's about something happening this weekend, something that you should definitely go to if you're after something different! Especially if you don't want another weekend going for a walk, going to the same market, or standing on the sideline of something you're not that into!

The Omokoroa No 1 School Ride on Mower Race Day is what you need!

This is one of my favourite days of the year. A bunch of people travel the country (well, the North Island at least) with exceptionally modified ride-on lawn mowers and race them furiously against each other. It sounds a bit dangerous... and it is! People have broken limbs doing this before... it's racing; it happens! Right from the first race they go hard. It's loud and dirty (for them, not you) and awesome!

Then there's the other part of the day.

It's kind of like festival meets traditional school gala. Everything from the silent auction to the dunk tank. But they also have a performance stage, some of the best gala food ever (there's no calories at a gala, right?) and some exceptional gala games for all ages (dad is still a child inside)!

In a region like this there's lots to do when the weather fines up like it has recently. Over summer there are heaps of events that are awesome and unique... but none quite like this.

It's different and it's something that everyone in your family will love, even the gruntiest f grunting teenage boys and the 'leave me alone I'm on my phone texting my friend who's sitting next to me' of tweenage girls!
