The Bay of Plenty experienced a shake up this morning as an earthquake struck.
Geonet recorded an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 5 north of White Island this morning.
The quake struck at 8.33am, 105km north of the island.
It was felt in Tauranga and as far as in Hamilton, Coromandel town and Whitianga.
The GeoNet project is core funded by the Earthquake Commission (EQC) and is being designed, installed and operated by GNS Science on behalf of EQC and all New Zealanders.
