He was made Corporal on December 16, 1917. He died in action on May 8, 1918.
Henry Phillips, 37, also died in action a day later on May 9, 1918.
Te Puna farmer William Harcourt Lochhead was serving during World War I when he died of gunshot wounds to the head in Cairo, Egypt on May 11, 1918.
Just three months later, his older brother Thomas Leslie Lochead was killed in action at Bapaume in France.
By Armistice Day on November 11, 109 crosses will have been erected at the waterfront as part of city commemorations to mark 100 years since the end of World War I.
