Never one to pull back from telling a joke or sharing an opinion, singer-songwriter Anika Moa helms a new show on Maori TV tonight.
All Talk will be what's trending and what's offending in the world of pop culture, and Moa will invite a broad range of guests to chew the fat. She has dabbled in celebrity interviewing before and her kamikaze style of throwing down frank, and often hilarious, observations promises to be TV gold.
"This is the world as Anika sees it, she's a modern wahine without much of a filter. Strap yourselves in," says producer Paul Casserly. "Anika wants a show that's interesting, and feels sick at the thought of putting out something mediocre, boring, middle-of-the-road watch.
"She's excited at the thought of talking to people she admires, but also to people she doesn't understand."
Moa says: "I love talking to people and I'm a very social person. I love the idea of talking to an actor or musician. We are creative people and with that comes imagination. It creates that buzz." And as for people who she doesn't get: She's a fan of The Real Housewives of Auckland and, while everyone seems to love Gilda, co-star Angela Stone is actually the housewife she wants to talk to.
