New Year's Eve marks a time to get a little glammed up and strut your stuff in nothing but a bikini.
The Miss Mount Maunganui pageant, which sees many hopefuls battling out for the title, takes place on Friday, December 31 from 3pm to 5pm. Enter on the day by turning up at the main beach wearing a swimsuit.
Not only is it about the outward beauty, contestants need to be talented. Whether it be singing, dancing, hula hooping, or a unique talent. Each entrant has to perform to the judges as well as being interviewed by them - all done in front of a large group of spectators.
Special guest judges this year will be Shortland Street actor Kimberley Crossman, who plays Sophie McKay and three of the Steamer Rugby players.
Last year proved a big hit with thousands turning out to watch including a few wide-eyed young men enjoying the show.
The 2009 winner Vivian Nouri, from Auckland, walked away with the top prize of $500 cash and a $250 Seafolly swimwear voucher.
Miss Nouri, was one of 14 who paraded on the Beach Stage on New Year's Eve.
Last year, each entrant was only told they had to perform a talent five minutes before the show started, leaving many shocked.
Miss Nouri had one up her sleeve and sang Rihanna's Russian Roulette, wowing the crowd with her voice.
Before Miss Mount Maunganui, there is the pre Miss Mount for younger up and coming models. Little Miss Sunshine, a pageant for 5 to 10 year olds is a fun, laid-back competition to enter.
The pageant is sponsored by ZM. Promotion Co-ordinator Charlie Helliwell said, "It is all just a bit of fun. Come in your swimsuit, have the chance to show of your talent to the judges. Show us what you have got."
First prize is a $500 Nevada voucher.
