The Tauranga City Council's deliberations meeting scheduled for today on the future of 384-410 Maunganui Rd has been cancelled.

The meeting has been deferred for eight weeks to allow time to review the future open space requirements for the Mount north area.

Last month, Zespri unveiled plans to create a "world-class development" on a 1.6ha council-owned block of land on Maunganui Rd. Read more about the plans here.

The site is occupied by Mount Library, Mount Plunket Preschool and Zespri. It also contains a park, which the Little Big Markets use once a month. Council received 198 submissions from the community.

Thirty-seven of the submissions support the council selling part or all of 384-410 Maunganui Rd. One-hundred-and-fifty-one submissions were against it.
