Western Bay of Plenty Mayor James Denyer is encouraging locals to donate to the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal.
Tomorrow and Saturday thousands of volunteers will be hitting the streets all over New Zealand to raise vital funds for breast cancer research, education and patient support.
“I support the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal because raising awareness promotes early detection and better survival rates from breast cancer,” says James.
“We all have mothers, wives, daughters, aunts and other whānau who have been or could be affected by this disease and we owe it to them to support them as best we can.”
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s chief executive Ah-Leen Rayner says: “We’re asking everyone in the Bay of Plenty to show some love for Kiwis affected by breast cancer by donating to our Pink Ribbon Street Appeal, and we’re so grateful to have Mayor Denyer join our call.
