Matakana Is man flown to hospital

A 55-year-old Matakana man was flown to Tauranga Hospital last night after suffering breathing difficulties.

The man's problems were the result of a medical condition.

Matakana Island first responders tended to the man about 6.30pm before a TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter paramedic provided medical intervention.

Because the man was located on an Island and the complications of his medical condition the rescue helicopter was called to fly him to Tauranga hospital, his condition was described as moderate.
