A primary school digital media competition has grown so large the awards' ceremony is moving to ASB Arena.
The MADE Awards were started by Tahatai Coast School and Selwyn Ridge School five years ago and in that time, the number of entries has grown to 500 groups from all over the country. About 12 Tauranga schools are involved.
The awards are in six categories - static image, manipulated image, documentary, story telling, commercial and music video.
The ages of children taking part begin from 5-year-olds right up to 13-year-olds.
Taking part this year was Room 8 at Tahatai Coast School. Teacher Shona Poppe got the 6- and 7-year-old students in her class to make a documentary of themselves while they were making fairytale masks in class. The finished documentary was called Magnificent Masks.
