A 70-year-old man was left alone with a broken leg for nearly seven hours in the bush at Whakamarama after falling off his quad bike.
The man was riding a quad bike and rolled down a hill about midday on Saturday.
Locals and family members searched for the man after he failed to show up at home. He was found late in the evening in the bush with a broken leg.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to the Whakamarama farm about 6.45pm as the man's location was only accessible by four-wheel-drive.
A helicopter spokesman said the man required medical attention by St John paramedics before he could be moved to an area where the helicopter could land.
