A man accused of the manslaughter of two teenage sisters killed in a Christmas Day crash in Welcome Bay has been remanded in custody after breaching his bail.
Haki Tetuere Davey, 18, appeared in the High Court at Rotorua. today and admitted breaching his bail conditions on August 19. Details of the breach were suppressed by Justice Rodney Hansen.
Defence lawyer Max Simpkins, who appeared on behalf of Davey's lawyer Paul Mabey QC, told Justice Hansen Davey would not be seeking bail.
Davey will remain in custody until at least March 4, 2013, the date when his trial is due to start.
Davey's cousins Merepeka Morehu-Clark, 14, and her 13-year-old sister Brooklyn Morehu-Clark were killed in the crash.
