The proposed plans including an additional roundabout and controlled pedestrian crossings in the village.
Tauranga City Council released the plans today after community concern at the safety of Cameron Rd and Chadwick Rd. The roundabout intersection was ranked as the second worst local road location in the city in terms of serious, minor and non-injury crashes, the council said in a statement.
In the past five years there have been 70 crashes in the local areas: two of these were serious crashes which involved a pedestrian and a cyclist. The crash trend was increasing with 23 crashes in 2016. Prior to this the average number of crashes was about eight per year, the council said.
