A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has been recorded off the Bay of Plenty this morning.
It was recorded 850 km north-east of Whakatane and people throughout the Bay of Plenty have registered felt reports through GeoNet.

A number of other earthquakes have also been felt in the Bay this morning, some of severe intensity.
