Four Tauranga homes are in the running to be crowned House of the Year, as local builders compete with the cream of the country to be named best builder in New Zealand.
Regional finalists of the Registered Master Builders 2015 House of the Year have the opportunity to win one of the 12 national category awards, as well as separate awards for lifestyle categories such as best kitchen, best bathroom and best outdoor space at a gala dinner in Auckland on Saturday.
Local finalists include Gudsell Designer Homes for the Mitre 10 Renovation Award $250,000-$500,000 for their Matua build; Murray Pedersen Builders for the Nulook New Home $650,000-$1 million with their Mount Maunganui build; Harwood Homes NZ for the Carters New Home $1 million-$2 million Bethlehem build; and Shaw Builders for the Westpac New Home over $2 million for their Mount Maunganui build.
The finalists were judged in the regional finals earlier this year and will now be judged by the national panel for the ultimate accolades of House of the Year and Renovation of the Year.
The competition was structured on two levels - regional and national.
