They could be made from the huge amount of waste plastic we have a current problem disposing of.
Some people refer to this as a win-win!

Insult to veterans
The English language is a national, and global, treasure.
Peter Williams' call (Opinion, September 15) for the English language to be expunged from our national song is, in my view, an insult to many English-speaking New Zealanders and to the many English-speaking men and women who fought and died for this country.

Māori representation in law
Bryan Johnson (Letters, September 14) is, in my opinion, unreasonable in his criticism of local mayor Gary Webber.
The mayor has to work with local Māori, and he is required by the Treaty of Waitangi partnership, which is now law, to try to give them fair representation.
Bryan Johnson has no elected responsibility so he can tell people to defy the Treaty of Waitangi and fair representation for Māori, but this would mean he is campaigning to defy the law.
The poll result opposing Māori wards showed simply that Pākehā voters thought that Māori wards were an extra privilege for Māori and did nothing for Pākehā.
The poll result did not change the Treaty responsibility for the council to provide fair representation for Māori.
