I was appalled to read of the unfortunate log-truck driver whose truck caught fire and who had to wait for the 21st driver to stop and give aid.
I sincerely hope that none of those ignorant drivers who passed him by should ever be in need of assistance as this driver was.
We New Zealanders (particularly those living here in the Bay of Plenty) pride ourselves on our teamwork and the way we support our fellow countrymen and women.
Our world under threat, thousands of our young men flocked to give aid at this time of war - even at the cost of their very lives.
Earthquake in Christchurch - thousands of dollars of support.
Volunteers flocked from all around the country to provide aid.
Tornado in Auckland - more dollars of support.
Rescue workers, medical support raced to give aid.
Tragedy strikes Japan - New Zealand Rescue workers flocked to give support.
Our countrymen and women dug deep to give aid.
Yet a truck driver, quietly going about his work, has disaster strike.
May God richly bless the good Samaritan who stopped and allowed his phone to be used for, not one, but two calls for help.
As for those selfish, self-righteous people who passed him by - shame on you.
