A 87-year-old man who went missing from a rest home in Ōmokoroa last night has been found.
Lewis Hewitt, who suffers from "slight dementia", took a car from his rest home and left about 4pm yesterday.
The man's daughter, Michelle Verster Hewitt began a frantic search, using local Bay of Plenty Facebook pages to bolster the effort in hopes of finding him.
She said her dad, Lewis Hewitt, had "slight dementia" and had been missing since about 4pm.
"He took a car from the rest home, he has not driven for years," the post read.
