A man was tracked and located by police dogs in Brookfield last night after an earlier car chase.
Tauranga Police Sergeant Cameron Anderson said a car reported stolen was spotted sometime after 10pm and when police approached it "took off" and due to the speed of the car police abandoned the chase.
Mr Anderson said the man was known to police.
The man was tracked by dogs to a Brookfield address but denied any link to the car.
