Time is running out to have your say on Tauranga issues.
Tauranga City Council has been asking the community if there is anything that spoils the city's streets, beaches, reserves for them. The feedback received would help to inform the review of four public places bylaws.
The bylaws were being reviewed to ensure they tackled the issues they needed to, and that they met the changing needs of a growing community. This included looking into topics such as begging, rough sleeping, signs, tables and chairs on footpaths, activities on beaches, freedom camping, and alcohol-free areas.
Residents have a few more days to complete the short survey before it closes on Monday, 12 March: www.tauranga.govt.nz/publicplaces
The council would then prepare proposals to update the four bylaws, and develop options for consideration by elected members. The draft amended bylaws will be submitted back to the community for formal consultation – likely in July 2018.
The bylaws currently up for review are the Street Use and Public Places Bylaw, the Beaches Bylaw, the Freedom Camping Bylaw and the Liquor-free and Vehicle-free Zones in Public Places Bylaw.
